One Owner!

You will be in Catalina in a breeze with this lovingly-maintained Skipjack 262 Flybridge. Yes, it is a real cruising machine – pushed by the 5.7GSi Volvo Penta 285 hp engine spinning Volvo’s unique twin counter-rotating Duoprop propeller. But this boat was built to be fished. The Skipjack 262 is the angler’s choice, having plenty of range with 160 gallons of fuel so you can run anywhere, anytime. And the open cockpit is laid out for the fisherman with 64 square feet clear of built-in lounges and has a built-in hot/cold washdown shower.

Skipjack built the 262 with West Coast anglers in mind with a 8’6” beam making a legally-trailerable 6,000-pound mid-sized bridge boat that can be hitched up with the included Pacific trailer for a drive south to the Baja Peninsula or north to Monterey. Requires no permits and high items fold down easily.

You’ll like the bridge. It has a full bimini cover and clear side curtains. Visibility is excellent. You have a superb view of baits when trolling or shallow water while cruising or hullsides when docking. Two bucket seats are bolted close to the deck, designed to keep the center of gravity low and prevent rolling. The bridge houses the navigation electronics including a Raytheon Chartplotter/Radar, a Raytheon autopilot, Garmin fishfinder/GPS, and ICOM VHF radio as well as the controls for the electric anchor windlass.

Cruising or fishing, you will be at home on anchor. The Skipjack 262 packs a lot of usable space into the LOA. There’s a full cabin including a V-berth (7’ long by 4’8” wide), a convertible dinette, an enclosed head, galley with sink and a two-burner alcohol stove and a whopping 6’6” of headroom. Additionally, the galley has a refrigerator and a microwave oven powered by an inverter/charger. The cabin has a Jensen stereo/CD with interior and exterior speakers.

Skipjack is built for the long haul. It’s put together with durable materials, and the finish and detailing is real off-shore quality. Skipjack owners enjoy the no-nonsense build that you’ll appreciate when you run, clean or repair the boat.

She is a must see and won’t last long. Call to schedule an appointment.

Description

The Skipjack 262 Flying Bridge features a spacious flying bridge with full electronics including radar, VHF, fishfinder, GPS, autopilot and more. The comfortable swivel chairs are great for cruising or relaxing in port. Inside, the 262 is spacious with plenty of visibility.

The forward V-berth measures 7 feet, 3 inches x 5 feet, 3 inches with 4-inch upholstered cushions and storage underneath. Storage shelves run along both sides of the berth. A 20-inch translucent hatch above the V-berth allows desired ventilation and light. The head is fully enclosed with 6-foot headroom and a Formica countertop trimmed in oak with a stainless steel sink, shower extension from sink, marine head with macerator pump, and 15-gallon holding tank. The galley features a large Formica table with ample space for dining, studying charts, or rigging fishing gear. Seat cushions are handmade and custom fit with 3-inch upholstered foam cushions and tapered back cushions. Storage is provided under both seats. The dinette table converts to a double berth.

Construction of the engine room is designed to make routine maintenance simple. All through-hull fittings are cast bronze and are bedded to the hull in polyurethane. Heavy duty hoses are secured with stainless steel hose clamps at each connection. Hoses and wiring are tied down to reduce chaffing and prevent connections from working loose. All fiberglass work below deck is faired, then coated with gelcoat resulting in a smooth finish with easy to clean surfaces. The engine room nicely houses a Volvo Penta 5.7 GSi gasoline V-8.

Engine Notes

Volvo Penta 5.7 GSi engine with 630 hours

The fuel injected 5.7 L engine has been enhanced for extra horsepower. The 5.7 GSi’s have proved to be reliable and good performers year after year.

Key Features

  • Seawater cooling with cast iron cylinder block
  • Cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds
  • Exhaust manifolds and risers are EDP treated for increased durability
  • Multi Port Fuel Injection system
  • Breakerless electronic ignition system
  • Platinum tipped spark plugs
  • Audio alarm kit– engine oil pressure and temperature as well as exhaust overheat
  • Electrically operated hydraulic system with trim gauge for best driving comfort

Volvo Penta Duo Prop Outdrive

Volvo Penta’s patented Duo Prop outdrive adds a second, contra-rotating propeller to the drive unit giving it a much better bite on the water. As a result, at the helm you get vastly improved handling, fewer vibrations, better tracking, faster acceleration (by up to 30-percent), better low-speed planing ability, and better slow-speed maneuverability. Many of the annoying performance glitches found in single prop drives, such as excessive wandering at low speeds and poor dock-side control, are solved by the addition of that second propeller. Even in reverse, the handling advantages are obvious at the helm. In fact, talk with any boater who’s owned both single and twin-prop sterndrive boats, and he or she is sure to say they liked the twin-prop rig more.
