Beautiful Classic Whaler!
This is one of the nicest vintage Whalers you will ever come across. This 1965 Eastport has been lovingly cared for by her current owner for years. There are thousands of Montauks out there but the Eastport is much more scarce. This is truly the best configuration for owners looking to spend time with family and friends.
The Eastport debuted in 1961 as the top of the line in the Boston Whaler fleet. With beautiful mahogany console, reversible pilot seat, aft bench seating in addition to seating forward of the console this was the most luxurious 16/17 Whaler ever produced.
The Eastport remained in production through 1973. This is the same hull that was in production from 1961 until 1975/1976 when the “smirk hull” was introduced along with the Montauk.(and renamed the 17′ Whaler). The dimensions remained the same from the original design in 1961 and these two hulls remained in production until the early 2000’s.
This particular example is a real time capsule. She includes a wonderful canvas package which keeps the maintenance on the mahogany to a minimum. A 4-stroke Yamaha at 70hp is the ideal power package for this beauty. With roughly 122 ours on her she has years of life ahead of her.
This is THE Whaler to have. Unlike the utilitarian Montauk, the Eastport has wonderful seating accommodations and functions perfectly as a harbor cruiser. She also makes a terrific fly fishing platform. She comes with a trailer so dry storage is not an issue. Neither is dragging her up to the Sierra’s for some fall fly fishing on Lake Crowley
